Is your family ready for spring break vacation? Follow these helpful top 10 tips before you head out to ensure your home is ready too! 1) Prevent fires by unplugging electronics that don’t need to stay on while you’re gone. 2) Tidy the house, empty perishable items from the fridge and take out the trash. 3) Set thermostat to a temperature that’s closer to the weather outside. 4) Leave your contact information with a neighbor in case of emergency. 5) Set your water heater to vacation mode and turn off water at the main shut-off valve. 6) If possible, invest in a timer so your lights can periodically turn on and deter any home invasions. 7) Be sure to check that all doors and windows are locked and remove any outside spare keys. 8) Try to wait until you return home to post any vacation pictures to social media. 9) If you have home security, notify them you will be away. 10) Move expensive items away from windows as to not entice burglars. Bonus: Check your insurance coverages (home, car etc….) it could save you time and money should anything happen while you are away.
